Late summer inspires Southwestern flavors at the farmers market

I love the way the seasons inspire me to make meals I would have never thought of on my own. This past weekend I found poblano peppers, sweet corn, ripe tomatoes, summer squash and fresh cilantro at the farmers market. How could my thoughts not turn to Southwestern flavors and meal ideas?

I haven't made anything yet, but I'm very excited to play around with my ingredients. Suggestions welcome!

p.s. My new Facebook page needs some fans so I can snag a custom URL. Help me out by becoming a fan?

Yummy ingredient list!

Just cook those ingredients together in a saute pan to create a yummy stew like substance and use a warm fat free tortilla to scoop it up!

You could make some excellent corn relishes or salsas. I've been making them a lot this summer with the tomatoes and jalapenos from my garden and they're zesty and satisfying. (Don't forget the lime though!)

I live in Burlington, Vermont (a mini-San Francisco) and have been testing out the local food markets this summer and have totally fallen for the organic, all-natural food style. You should come to the Northeastern Kingdom and check it out - there's so much to do and see!

I am absolutely falling in love with your food blog. And would love to see more of the recipes that you make with your local ingredients!

A bit late, but a southwesty corn/potato chowder with the pobalanos and cilantro would be good. Top with toasted tortilla strips and/or shredded cheese or queso fresco
